What is a HELOC?

A home equity line of credit (HELOC) is a revolving line of credit, guaranteed by the value of your property. Different than a personal loan, with a HELOC you draw out only the amount of money you need, as you need it, and you pay interest only on the amount of funds used. The opportunity for you to draw funds remains open until you reach the limit determined by the bank, and based on a combination of factors, such as your property's value and your credit standing.
